Human interaction with bees goes as far back as 9,000 years; from medicine, to food, to artefacts, imagery and beeswax. But now, their existence, and hence ours, is under threat. This collection of visits, discussions and journeys traces the Japanese honeybees in practice, in print and in pedagogics to see how our relationship with bees has developed in the arts and in real life. We will explore whether these three modes offer insight into the relation between bees and humans.
